About Us

May Day Network in Scotland – a business-led movement for increased action on climate change

Background

The Prince’s May Day Network is a group of businesses committed to tracking and reducing their carbon footprint and Maciver Project Services has been a member since 2008.  The Network was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007 and each year the group increases in size and determination. The 'May Day' name is derived from the May Day distress signal, and was chosen deliberately to communicate the urgency of the climate change message.

We are proud that our business has been chosen, amongst others, to demonstrate best practice through a published case study on the May Day Network Scotland website. The case study describes how we have engaged our employees and the steps we are taking to reduce our carbon emissions.

Maciver Project Services May Day Case Study

Maciver Project Services is committed to working in partnership with Scottish Business in the Community to deliver our commitment to a greener environment.

As with many consultancy businesses, we work with our clients in their offices which require our consultants to travel, sometimes long distances. In participating in the May Day Network, we have publically committed to making decisions in relation to our carbon footprint generated from our consultancy activities including train travel in preference to air travel, choosing hotels with an active environment programme and home working when practical.

We believe businesses are responsible for achieving good environmental practice and operating in a sustainable manner. At Maciver Project Services, we understand the importance of taking effective action to ensure we minimise the negative impact on the environment. Our commitment has resulted in a number of new processes and systems being implemented within our company, to reduce our indirect transport emissions and to help raise awareness amongst Maciver Project Services employees in becoming more energy efficient at home.
